Principal's Report

Mr. Prasad

Dear MHS Community,

It has been an interrupted term for all of us but we as a school community stood side-by-side to support each other to successfully continue with our teaching and learning in a COVID -19 pandemic.

The school community once again stood up to adopt new ways of learning using a variety of digital platforms. Our school provided laptops and data (dongles) to students to continue their online learning. I would like to thank Australian Business Council Network (ABCN) for supplying 19 laptops to support students learning.  Also, to MAN Energy Solutions Australiafor their generous donation of computers and laptop equipment to support student learning.

During this term, the school has further enhanced the social media platform which has resulted in an increase in visits by the community to our facebook pages, school website and parent portal. Students and staff have displayed great resilience and confidence in utilising Teams and Zoom to deliver teaching and learning virtually.

The Positive Behaviour for Learning team has continued to use innovative and creative ways to reward students with some great prices for their learning and participation in their online learning.

The school is very proud of Year 12 students who have shown great resilience and perseverance and despite having dealt with too many unknowns during this period, still managed to complete their education. Fantastic!

Our own, Paul Clarke (Science Faculty) received The Minister’s Award for excellence in Teaching. Shanil Wijesurendra (School Captain), received  Commendation recognition for The minister’s Award for Student Achievement . Congratulations to you both. Also, Andrew Macnamara(PE Faculty) was highly commended for his outstanding contribution in making a difference to healthy and active lifestyles by the ACHPER panel.

On behalf of the school’s leadership team, I would like to thank our community members for their outstanding contribution in their understanding and moral support that you have provided to keep MHS safe to continue the learning of our students.

Stay safe and enjoy the 2 weeks break.
