Diploma of Teacher Education Preparation
The Diploma of Teacher Education Preparation may be the right study choice for students with the motivation, capability and personal attributes to be a great teacher.
The Diploma of Teacher Education Preparation (Dip TEP) is an accredited qualification aimed at students who do not initially meet the minimum ATAR for teaching. The course has been developed as part of the Victorian Government’s Excellence in Teacher Education Reforms to ensure that disadvantage and diverse educational experiences are not a barrier to capable and committed people who want to pursue a career in teaching.
Successful completion of the Dip TEP will ensure that students graduate with the prerequisite knowledge and skills to undertake a rigorous undergraduate teacher education course. The Dip TEP supports students to meet the literacy and numeracy standards they will need in order to graduate with a teaching qualification and supports them to meet the demands of study at a higher education level.
The course introduces them to contemporary issues in education and to teaching as a profession, including practical school-based placement.
The course is offered by a number of institutions, including ACU, RMIT, Swinburne, and VU Polytechnic.
Science Pathway to Master of Engineering
The Monash Bachelor of Science can be used as a pathway into graduate Engineering at Monash. If you love science and have an interest in engineering, keep your options open and be on track to earn both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Professional Engineering.
New in 2022 is the option for students to undertake certain units from Monash's Bachelor of Science so that they can fast track their Master’s studies in Engineering. In this pathway, students can choose up to four Engineering Foundation units to study as electives in the second and third year of their Science degree. Monash offers five engineering specialisations and students will need to select the Engineering Foundation units that relate to the discipline/s they are interested in, and that will enable them to fast track their Masters.
In the final year of their Science degree, and provided the entry requirements are met, students can apply for graduate entry into the Master of Professional Engineering. The successfully completed Engineering Foundation units can be credited to the Master of Professional Engineering and students can commence their Master’s in either the start or midyear intake and be on track to complete their Engineering Master’s in 2.5 years instead of 3 years. Students should note that they will still need to undertake 420 hours of CPD even if they do the course in 2 or 2.5 years.
