Flora & Fauna

Our Level 3 students continue to enjoy engaging with our Flora and Fauna programme during remote and flexible learning. It has been lovely to see photos of our budding chefs, gardeners and scientists!

Cooking

In our last session, Mrs O’Keefe delighted many a child (and child at heart!) by showing us how to make designer cookies. Students had the option of filling the centre of their cookies with peanut butter, choc chips, marshmallows and much more. We loved seeing all the photos of our young chefs and their wonderful designer cookie creations! This provided students with more practice in measuring and weighing which of-course is a wonderful way to engage with Mathematics in a ‘real world context’.

We have also included photos from our on-site cooking when the students made yummy pakoras.

Science & Sustainability

In Science we continued our unit on Melting Moments and students had fun with ice in the ‘keeping it cool’ experiment. Their job was to find different objects that helped keep the ice from melting.  In Sustainability we linked our knowledge of Ecological Footprints with sustainable gardens. Students were then able to adapt their garden design to include innovative ways to incorporate sustainable products.

Garden Harvest & Garden Maintenance

With the rainy weather we took gardening indoors and students were required to design their own gardens. Linking in with sustainability above, we were impressed with the changes that were made.
