Wellbeing and Engagement

Here we are again Rangeview Families. We are so sorry that we are in this position – still. I hope when you read this newsletter we will have had the good news that the return to school is imminent. I write it on Friday night 13th August with no such knowledge.

Over the last two weeks there have been moments of happiness – we are always so impressed with the quality and creativity of the work that the students are doing at home and sharing with us here at school. We also know that there are moments of sadness and despair. We see in some of the WebEx that students are disappointed and flat that this lockdown continues. Research suggests that the best defence against sadness at times such as these – is gratitude. Despite the situation we find ourselves in due to this pandemic, there is still much to be grateful for here in our inner city Melbourne lives. You might want to check out the Gratitude Tree here

If you are looking for some wonderful home activities to do with your kids there is a collection of tasks and videos for kids all made locally and by government bodies. The Melbourne Museum, the State Library, AFL Victoria, the Arts Centre and the ABC just to name a few.

The Box Hill CIS is a free community information and support service. They provide emergency relief such as funding, food vouchers and travel, they provide advocacy and referral to other agencies for support. You can call them or just go in – even in lockdown, and they will be able to provide support for a huge range of issues. More information is below.
