Level 1
Gosh, here we go again, Level 1! Big congratulations to our students and families for moving so seamlessly into Remote and Flexible Learning 6.0. You are all amazing.
We were fortunate to be able to celebrate our 100 Days at School with a special fish ‘n’ chip lunch.
Going with the food theme, we made paper pizzas for Maths to practise our fractions. We moved into 3D shapes in week 5, with students finding some of these shapes at home and pulling them apart (where possible) to look at the 3D shape net.
In Writing, we are working on information reports, including planning and writing structured reports. Students wrote some wonderful information reports about bees.
Science Week resulted in fantastic Show and Tell presentations about a scientist or a science experiment. Our Inquiry topic is now minibeasts, and students went on a backyard safari last week to see what minibeasts they could find. Focusing on bees last week, we labelled parts of a bee, looked at a bee’s life cycle and discussed items at home that we have because of bees.
We have been delighted with how engaged students have been and the quality of work they have been submitting in Remote Learning. Our whole-class WebExes have been a great chance to catch up, and we are excited to be using our small-group literacy sessions to work through our CARS booklets, focusing on reading comprehension. Also exciting has been the activation of our Level 1 class blogs, and students have been uploading some wonderful Show and Tell videos.
We hope you are keeping well, and we look forward to another fabulous fortnight of learning.
