AGTV German Poetry Competition

Over the last couple of months a number of students from Levels 4, 5 and 6 have been busy practising for the AGTV German Poetry Competition. This annual event, which commenced over 25 years ago, is a wonderful opportunity for students of German to enhance their German language skills, boost their confidence and self-esteem, as well as uniting with other German students to share a love of language learning.

This week the following students will be participating in the regional final:

Level 4:

Josephine 4M

Ines 4V

Molly 4H

Level 5:

Siddharth 5/6W

Matilda 5/6H

Will LW 5/6K

Level 6:

Sisley 5/6H

Miranda 5/6K

Kaitlyn 5/6K

They will be judged remotely on their poetry performances, including their pronunciation, intonation, phrasing and how well they are able to deliver the meaning of their poem to the judges.

Thank you to each of these students for the outstanding time and effort they have put into preparing for this special event.

We wish them all the very best for the regional final!

Foundation Fun

In German, Foundation students have been celebrating the Olympic Games and looking at the sporting events in Tokyo.  We have also looked at the instrumental version of the German National Anthem and sung along with the song “Deutschlandlied”.

In addition we have been learning all about "Die Spielzeuge" (Toys)!

Some of our new words are:

die Puppe                         Doll

das Auto                           Car

der Roboter                     Robot

der Zug                             Train

der Computer                 Computer

der Ball                             Ball

We are continuing to practise our colours, numbers, singing and dancing.

Some of the songs we have learnt are:

Brüderchen, komm tanz mit mir        Little brother, come dance with me

Fünf kleine Enten                                   Five Little Ducks

Der Spielzeug Tanz                               The Toy Dance

Das Deutschlandlied                            The German National Anthem

Keep up the great work with Remote and Flexible Home Learning in German!  I have really enjoyed seeing your work in Seesaw.  I have also heard some very good pronunciation of German in the recorded videos.  Toll! Sehr gut, gemacht!!

The highest mountain in Germany is Zugspitze, and is 2,962 meters above sea level. Zugspitze is also an attractive destination for non-skiers and at the very top, a 360 degree camera is recording and shown on this website.
