Classroom News - Year 5

Mrs Fittler and  Mr Lester

                                Online Learning

We are SO proud of the Year 5 students who have continued to work online in the Google Classroom with the help of their parents and/or carers.  The students have taken the challenge in their stride as they follow the weekly timetable with the activities that have been provided.  We understand that this is a very difficult and demanding time for everyone, however, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for all that you are doing for your child at this time, so that they can continue to learn and flourish with your help and guidance.

                                      Learning

Year 5 have been enjoying learning about all aspects of poetry this week and this will continue next week too.  In Mathematics, students are learning about chance and data and they have been given some great 'hands on' activities to complete. Our priority for the students is to complete their English (Reading and Writing), Mathematics and Religion tasks each day.  This usually equates to about 2-3 hours learning per day.  This week and next week we have added some art activities for those students that are looking for more tasks to complete and show off their creative side.

                               Zoom meetings

We continue to have our compulsory daily Zoom meeting at 11.30am. During this time we take a class roll so if your child is unwell and cannot complete their work for the day please let the office know.  We have also divided the students into 5 smaller groups and we have another Zoom at 2.10pm for the smaller groups.  We have found that the second zoom is a time where students can discuss how they are feeling and a place where they can ask questions about the learning in a smaller setting.  We, as teachers, are also finding this a more relaxed setting and we often dress up for the occasion.

                                Thanks again

Once again, we are so very grateful for everything that you are doing to help your child at home, not just with their school work but with showing them how to be resilient, kind, loving, grateful and happy.

Just remember "You are your child's first teacher, we are all doing the best we can" - thank you from Mrs Fittler and Mr Lester ♥️♥️
