Science Olympiad

Matthew Hanns is an exceptional student across all disciplines. He is currently in Year 10 and studying VCE Mathematics and Biology. Matthew has demonstrated his exceptional skills in Science by being awarded a Distinction in the 2020 Junior Science Olympiad (JSO) and a High Distinction in 2021. He has taken up other additional opportunities, such as studying units via John Monash Science Schools Emerging Sciences program. For the last year, Matthew has been a part of JSO training squad and has been completing additional studies in his own time.
This year he has been invited to extend his involvement with the JSO training squad and is one of 24 students across the country invited to attend their Spring School. Their goal is to cover as much of the VCE sciences curriculum by the end of the year. From these 24 students, just six will be invited to complete in the International Junior Science Olympiad.
We congratulate Matthew on his achievements to date and are excited to see his continued growth into the future.
In 2021, we had eleven additional students who also competed in the Science Olympiads. Congratulations to each of these students for putting themselves forward and participating in these challenging exams. We hope to see even more students getting involved in 2022!
