Student Leadership 2022

The process has begun to choose our student leaders for 2022. I am delighted that 35 students have registered their interest to serve the College as leaders. An information afternoon was held on Wednesday, 11 August with input from a number of our current outstanding Year 12 leaders. Interviews will be conducted on 6 and 7 September. Thank you to Heads of House and especially to Mrs Leon Rogers for her co-ordination of the process.

Calendar reminders

The last day of Term 3 is as follows:

  • Year 12: Wednesday, 22 September
  • Years 7 – 11: Thursday, 23 September

A Pupil Free Day will be held in Term 4, on Friday, 29 October (changed from Tuesday, 2 November)

Professional Development Day

On Thursday 19 August, all staff participated in a day of reflection. We were blessed to have as our presenter Sr Margaret Scharf, a Dominican nun who entertained and challenged staff. The theme for the day was “Prayer: Being Yourself Before God”. Staff reflected on what is prayer and the various ways we can pray. The day provided time for staff to reflect and share in the benefits of prayer each other.

Year 7 and New Students for 2022 Information Evening

A reminder that on Wednesday, 1 September, St Norbert College will be holding the Year 7 and New Students Information Evening for all students commencing in 2022. The Information Evening provides families with important information about the transition program to assist current Year 6 students and students in other year groups commencing at St Norbert College next year. Both students and at least one parent/carer are required to attend the evening which commences at 6.00pm in the Fr Peter O’Reilly Centre. After an introduction to the whole group, families will then be split into smaller groups for some more informal presentations and discussion about what students can expect when they commence next year and how they can best prepare for this transition.

RSVP for Year 12 Graduation

Year 12 students and families are asked to confirm their attendance at the Year 12 Graduation Mass and Supper by Monday, 20 September. Students are required to hand in their RSVP slip to Student Services before this date. Due to capacity limits, the College will be unable to cater for additional guests beyond the four guests accounted for in the Graduation invitation.

Uniform and Personal Presentation

As Term Three moves into its final weeks, some students seemingly have decided to wait until the school holidays before they fix any issues to do with their uniform, haircut or personal presentation. This is not an appropriate response as students are required to present themselves according to the College’s uniform and personal presentation expectations at all times. Students also need to be in possession of a well-fitting harHouse shirt for use at House and College events. Those students who are identified to have uniform irregularities such as haircuts, missing buttons, incorrect hem lengths or additional piercings will need to rectify these issues immediately. For any situation where there is a valid reason why this cannot be done, students are required to provide their Homeroom teacher with a parent note explaining the reason behind the uniform infringement. This is especially true for Year 12 students who are reminded that following the College’s uniform and presentation standard is a prerequisite for involvement in the upcoming Graduation ceremonies.
