LIBRARY

Big Thank you

It has been all hands-on-deck recently with students graciously giving up some of their

break time to help with spine labels and covering hundreds of books with contact, ready to be dispersed to the Year 7 - 9 areas and also for our library shelves.  It has been great together and chatting over books!

New Books

There are lots of new books heading to our shelves in the library so check them out on display.   There is definitely a bit of something for everybody.

We would love for our students to write a review of any books they have may have enjoyed.

There is a book review sheet in the library that you can fill out to help others with their book selections.

Wednesday Chess Club

Chess Club is held every Wednesday in the Library at lunch time. Be sure to come along!

Thursday Trivia

Trivia is back on Thursdays so get your teams together and join the fun!

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is closing 17th September 2021

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is still open and Surf Coast Secondary College is excited to be participating. The PRC application offers a range of exciting features including:

  • access to a library catalogue (including book images and blurbs).
  • a modern user-friendly interface.
  • rewarding students with badges as challenge milestones are achieved.
  • the option for students to mark books as a favourite, give them a star rating or complete a book review.

The challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 17 September 2021. Students from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books. All children who meet the challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers. To read the Premier’s letter to parents, view the booklist and for more information about the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge CLICK HERE.
