Focus on Learning

Kindergarten:  Mrs Wendy Rheinberger

Kindergarten welcomed Miss Sarah Hamparsum (University of New England, Armidale Campus) into their classroom for 4 weeks of this term. Miss Hamparsum worked closely with Mrs Rheinberger and staff to plan and deliver most English and Mathematics lessons and provide support in other Key Learning Areas of Religion, Science, PDH/PE and Geography. She quickly settled into the routines of Kindergarten and K/1/2 and built a wonderful rapport with students and staff.

During Miss Hamparsum’s practicum experience students in Kindergarten have been learning about 2 D shapes and 3 D objects in Mathematics. In the Mathematics lesson structure for Early Stage 1, students are provided with many opportunities to manipulate and explore their environment through hands-on activities and discussion of what they already know and what they would like to know.  We talked about, predicted and investigated objects that stack, slide, roll or could do both - taking some time to group our objects according to their properties.

We hope you enjoy our photo gallery of the past few weeks with Miss Hamparsum.  She has really made a positive impact on students and staff with her willingness to learn, friendly nature and caring attitude.  Thank you Miss Hamparsum, we wish you all the very best for a bright future.
