A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is hard to believe how fast the school year is going. I am happy to report that during my daily classroom visits the students are really engaged in class lessons and showing considerable growth in their learning.

This Friday, I have a meeting with the School Performance Leaders from the Catholic Schools Office to discuss our plans for next year; especially with regards to our school needs and staffing requirements. As a staff we have spent time reflecting on our strengths and areas to improve. Your feedback is also important to us, so please take a few minutes to complete the survey emailed to all families last week.

Unfortunately, due to the Government decision regarding COVID-19 restrictions, our Kinder Readiness Program cannot go ahead as planned next term.  I would like to inform our parents of Kinder students in 2021, that we will be making a special pack for you containing lots of valuable information and tips to help your child be ready for school. We will distribute these next term. We will also be implementing the Oral Language Program co-ordinated by our local speech pathologist, Bec Bates, in terms 1 and 2 next year.

The most important positive activity you can do with your child is to READ to him or her everyday. Have fun with books, talk about the story and explain the meaning of new words. If you love to read so will your children!

I would like to share a few of my favourite quotes about the importance of reading:

“Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.”

“A book is a dream you hold in your hand.”

“The more you read, the more things you know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Next Monday 14th September our updated School Website will be uploaded. You can access the site through the following link:   https://stjosephsquirindi.catholic.edu.au

I hope you get a few minutes to enjoy a good book this week.

Take care and be safe.
