Health & PE Week

To celebrate National Health and PE Day on September 2nd, MGC had Health & P.E. Week.
It’s an event that normally consists of a day, and is on site at MGC, yet due to 2020 being what it is, this year’s Health & P.E. has moved online! The theme for this year’s events were based on Nike’s new commercial: ‘Nothing Can Stop Us’.
We had a multitude of activities and competitions, including:
MGC’s Virtual Gym: A power-point, hyperlinking to videos about exercise and meditation, while also including recipes for a healthy diet!
MGC’s My Healthy Kitchen Rules: A competition based on delicious creations at home!
A presentation by Australia Olympic Bronze Medalist Anabelle Smith
An incredible workout with Ms Tellefson
A Health based competitive Kahoot quiz
A fun and carefree virtual Zumba dance party
And finally, Mr Monaghan’s trick shots!
The importance of Health & P.E. Week, especially during remote learning, is for the mental, physical, and social wellbeing of all students and staff. We interacted with other peers and teachers, relaxed our minds and calmed anxiety levels with exercise and meditation, as well as sharing foods and smoothies that uplift energy, motivation, and positive spirits.
It has been a highlight of the year so far, as it broke the monotone and tedious schedule of remote learning and has brought MGC closer together, as well as how it was a fun and enjoyable week, which brightened up your day and not your screens!
Congratulations too to the following competition winners:
Kahoot – Gabi Denham
My Healthy Kitchen Rules (Main Meals) – Yasmine Iles
