Victoria University INNOVATE Excursion
How can virtual reality improve your tennis game? What is the correct angle to throw a ball at? How can technology be used to improve your balance and your jump? On Wednesday 28th November, students from Beaumaris Secondary College set out to answer such questions at the Institute of Health and Sport at Victoria University. Researchers and PhD students expanded upon our learning in INNOVATE this term, introducing students to the technologies and facilities currently being used by the No. 12 University in the world for sports science, covering motion analysis software, force plate technology, and virtual reality.
A massive thank you to Chris Burley and Ella Chapman for organising and managing a fantastic “Survivor” challenge on the Victoria University oval on the day, affording the opportunity for students to apply their skills and understanding in biomechanics, teamwork and strategy, whilst having a great deal of fun along the way.
