From the Principal...

Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's,

Thank you to the families who attended last week's Information Evening & Meet the Teacher Sessions. It was very well attended, with over one hundred families being present. It was lovely to see and hear the children show off their classrooms, including the Art, Performing Art and Japanese rooms. The feedback that the teachers and I received was very positive.

We look forward to the next community event that will take place this Thursday 20th February - Welcome BBQ & School Disco. This begins at 5:30pm. The coffee man has been invited and there will be a free sausage sizzle! Don't forget to pay for your child's disco ticket of $5 to join in the disco. At this stage the weather looks mild, promising an excellent evening.

Traffic Management around the school

I have been receiving concerned emails from parents about the level of safety being shown by parents parking around the school. Please be very careful when driving and parking. The following needs to be followed at all times!

  • There is a limit of 40kpm around the school.
  • Cars parking on Endeavour Drive must do so in the parking area only and not on the grass or across a driveway. Double parking is against the Victorian road laws and strict penalties apply.
  • Please move your car up so that there is not excessive space between cars. This can be very frustrating for parents who are trying to parallel park but find they do not have enough space.
  • If there is not enough space, try parking in Mitchell Court and using the side gate or drive around the block and come back.
  • Please be mindful of the pedestrian crossing and do not park in the no parking spaces around it.

Periodically, Parking Inspectors are in the area and have issued on the spot fines for illegal parking. The safety of all is very important. Thank you for your understanding and patience!

Volunteering at St Therese's

Don't forget to come along to one of the volunteer sessions this week. If you cannot attend and would like to volunteer please contact the office to speak to Michelle Hinds who is organising the sessions.

  • Wednesday 19th February at 3:00pm
  • Thursday 20th February at 9:00am

Straight after the Thursday session at 9:45am there will be a meeting for parents who are interested in Term 1 fundraising events that includes the Easter Raffle. Please consider coming along to help with this very popular event!  We hope to see you there.

Athletics Carnival - Thursday 27th February

On Thursday, 27th February we will hold our annual whole school Athletics Carnival. All children will be bused to Casey Fields and take part in athletic events. Please ensure your child is dressed in their sports uniform and has a hat, lunch, drink bottle and sunscreen.

Permission to attend needs to be completed prior to the day and is sent out via CareMonkey.

Parent volunteers are welcome. Please ensure that if you wish to volunteer that you attend the volunteer sessions this week or call to speak to Michelle Hinds.

Year 6 Leadership Teams

For the first time at St Therese's, we have organised Year 6 Leadership Teams. These teams will lead the school in the following areas; Environment, Social Justice, Community Spirit and Communication. I am confident that the Year Six students of 2020 will positively impact on the St Therese's community!

Congratulations to the students on each team.
