Autumn Soiree

The first combined instrumental and choral ensembles concert of the year – the Autumn Soiree – will be held this Sunday 23 May, from 5pm in the St Louis Sports Centre. Featuring performances from over 200 students in the Concert Band, Wind Band, Chamber Orchestra, Swing Band, Treble and Chamber Choirs, this promises to be a night not to be missed!

 

Students performing in the concert are required to arrive at 4pm to prepare, with catering available for audience members in the Pavilion. Tickets for the Autumn Soiree are free, and available through TryBooking. All are welcome!

 

Music Eisteddfod

Entries into the 2021 John XXIII College Music Eisteddfod are now open! The premier house music competition of the year will see hundreds of students perform to earn points for their house, as well as individual awards. This year’s Eisteddfod will be held over Sunday 13 and Monday 14 June, and all parents and friends are welcome in the audience.

 

Students who learn through the College will generally have their entries into the Eisteddfod managed by their tutor, however all students are welcome to enter. Students learning externally can access the applications via the following linkentries into the Eisteddfod close on Wednesday 2 June at 4pm. Students may choose to enter any of the following categories:

  • Piano
  • Winds and Brass
  • Percussion
  • Guitar and Electric Bass
  • Strings
  • Voice
  • Original Composition
  • Small Ensembles

Students are welcome to enter multiple categories, but with only one entry per category. All students entering the Eisteddfod (except in Piano) have access to accompaniment by College Accompanists. Rehearsals are arranged in the week leading up to the Eisteddfod. Music for accompanists can either be uploaded via the entry form, or delivered to the Music Office.
