Student Leadership

Introducing the newly appointed Academic Mentors!

Hello, it’s the Academic Mentors.

We are a small group consisting of six students from across the school who are willing to support students in their learning. Our goal is to aid students who may want any help with their academics and to help create a healthy and friendly environment where students feel safe to learn. We especially hope to be of help to the younger year levels, looking to promote a positive start to their future studies. Students may reach us through Teams, email, or catch us roaming during Maths Boost on Tuesdays (since most of us are Maths Academic Mentors).

We are also planning some 1-on-1 or group sessions with students if we get interest, which could be after school or during lunchtimes.

Hello! I’m Amy, one of the academic mentors, currently in year 12. I have always found maths really exciting and interesting to learn, and personally hope that us mentors are able to help everyone create a more welcoming environment to learn without the classroom pressures. I hope we can also make studying more of a manageable task. Please reach out and find me if you need help at all, by teams or my email:

Hi, I’m Eric and I’m currently a Year 12 student and an academic mentor. For me, maths is an interesting and fun subject and I hope we, as mentors, can help create a laid-back, fun and curious learning environment for everyone. If you have any concerns, you can reach me through my email:

LAN0035@wantirnacollege.vic.edu.au.

Hey, I'm Arad Sadeghi, I'm currently studying Year 11 at Wantirna College. I’m one of the Academic mentors for 2021. I have a very strong passion to make new ideas through improving things and encourage people to do the things they want, so I look forward to improving academic things for this school. I'm also excited to be a mentor because it's an opportunity for me to help the other students to make things easier, and I'm very proud of being one of the academic mentors in this school. Email: SAD0015@wantirnacollege.vic.edu.au.

Hi, I’m Chrystin, one of the academic mentors for 2021. I'm a year 10 student who is interested in helping others learn. While all the other mentors are for maths, I am the only one for music, but that doesn’t mean you can’t come to me if you need help in any of your other subjects. I’m more than happy to help anyone with anything you may need and am willing to be your voice if you are afraid of speaking up. You can contact me on teams or through my email: GOS0003@wantirnacollege.vic.edu.au

Hi, I’m Jeffrey, I am currently a year 10 and an academic mentor for 2021. I really enjoy helping people improve themselves. I'm a maths mentor, but I can also help with other subjects such as history and geography. From the SRC

The SRC in term 2 planned and organised a themed dress day. This theme dress day was to raise money for the SRC and the Leukaemia foundation. After a long-awaited couple of years the sports colours (footy colours) day had arrived, many students were pleased that this day had come. Many students showed up to school with their scarves and beanies on which was great to see.

The SRC sold fairy floss and lolly bags and also had colourful hairspray and spayed lots of heads! These food items and activity were a success. All the food items were sold out in minutes. All together the day was a success, and everyone enjoyed the day.

As the SRC we are looking at ways to improve the school. We are exploring the possibility to replace, repair and fix the drinking taps around the school. This is to make it safe for students to drink the water and also have working taps for students to drink out of. We will keep you updated of our progress.

For term 3 our theme is ‘Stand Out and Be United’ we will be promoting pride groups and indigenous communities around the school. Throughout the term we will be having compass posts with information about these two topics and ways to help these groups out. We will also have a themed dress day and activities running throughout the term for students to participate in.

For SRC we want to make sure everyone is included and can speak their voice. Everyone is welcome and we would love to hear your ideas. Our meetings are in Mason House on a Monday lunch time. So come and have a chat and meet new people. Hope to see you there!
