Later Years
Lockdown Changes
It was due to be a big week in the Later Years next week however this current lockdown has put much of our planning on hold.
Winter Ball
We have managed to secure another date for the Winter Ball at the same venue. The new date will be Wednesday August 18. Tickets are still on sale and remain so until Wednesday August 11th. This allows us enough time to finalise numbers with the venue.
This is a new event for Year 10 and 11 students and we encourage all students to attend. It should be a great night and hopefully a good way to celebrate a return to normality.
Year 10 City Stay Camp
The City Stay Camp was a massive event for the Later Years team to organise, with transport and accommodation for 250 students booked, over 10 different university and TAFE visits arranged, 10 different dinner venues and night time activities planned and 15 different activities for the second day organised. Needless to say both students and teachers were shattered that this couldn't go ahead as planned.
Ms King and her team are still very keen for the camp to go ahead and are busily reinventing what it will look like and booking in new venues. As soon as we have more information we will let people know, but we are hoping it will be late term 3.
Year 10 and 11 Exams
Year 11 students were trusted to undertake their exams in their own time during lockdown and based on the number that were returned for marking today this trust was very well placed.
Today's English exam in the Senior Centre went off without a hitch and the Maths exams will occur on Monday and Tuesday next week. The timetable for these has been distributed to students via Teams and Compass.
Year 10 students will have the same trust placed in them to complete their exams at home in their own time and to return them when they get back to school. Individual teachers are giving their students instructions about the exams.
The GAT
As you may have heard the VCAA has postponed the GAT to a date later in the year. There was a collective sigh of relief when students and teachers heard this as the GAT can be daunting to first timers and completing it during a lockdown period is not ideal for student nerves.
As soon as we have a date we will let you know.
