VCAL Radio

Our Year 11 VCAL students have been working on a radio unit this term and are making the most of our new radio pod station in the new VCAL centre. On Monday, 17 May 2021, they ventured to RMIT and took part in a radio production activity with the community radio station Syn Radio, recording their own short podcast in groups.  We then put this experience into practice back at school where the students, in small groups, have conducted their own radio show over lunchtimes. Each show has to perform a news segment, staff interview, a “how to” segment and a general podcast about something that interests them. This activity is improving their oracy and written skills, as well as their confidence in broadcasting across the school. So far, all groups have done an amazing job and we are loving the fun atmosphere the shows are bringing to our campus at lunch, made even better with the Year 12 VCAL group beginning their “VCAFE” café last week too. We look forward to hearing the rest of our groups perform and hopefully this can be an ongoing activity throughout the year.
