A HUGE THANK YOU to all the amazing families of St Joseph’s. Through your generosity and support of our Scholastic Book Fair our students can now benefit from around $3000 worth of books and resources in the Library to further encourage their love of reading through quality literature.

A special thank you goes to our enthusiastic group of helpers.  Your assistance in setting up, selling goods and packing away the fair was greatly appreciated.  We could not have managed without you.

YOU ARE ALL AWESOME!!!

Year 4’s Excursion to The Rocks

The Rocks is an historical site in Sydney and an amazing opportunity to learn about the First Fleet.  This is the best way to learn about convict life. Year 4 got to dress up as convicts, free settlers, soldiers and even governors! So swing by Port Jackson and visit The Rocks.

One of the costume options was Governor Lachlan Macquarie. He came on the Dromedary and arrived in Australia in 1810, aged 48. He was the 5th British governor of Australia and has many places named after him. Wouldn't you like to go to the rocks and learn more about our Australian history?

I think you should all visit The Rocks someday because you can see convict statues, monuments, houses and even ferries named after the first fleet ships.

Going to swing by Sydney? Visit The Rocks, you can dress up in costumes which will help you concentrate on what you are learning. This excursion will give you the opportunity to learn about the people on the First Fleet by becoming one of the characters.  Dressing up will definitely make the excursion better. Some of the characters were the governor, convicts, soldiers,  free settlers and even a medic.

Pop into The Rocks and see amazing monuments, such as Reynolds Cottage, Lachlan Bligh’s statue and Cadmers House.  These monuments give Sydney the character and respect it deserves.  These buildings are over 200 years old, which makes them the oldest buildings in Australia.

At The Rocks you can learn about Governor Arthur Phillip.  He arrived in 1788 on a ship called The Sirius.  He was 50 years old, Governor Philip was the first British governor of Australia, he helped to shape the early days of Sydney and established British colonisation.

Did you check your child's uniform this morning?

The good news is that most parents of St Joseph's make it a part of the morning routine to check their child's uniforms before leaving home.

All students should now be in the full Winter uniform and we are so appreciative of the effort parents make to ensure your children are properly attired for school each day.

Our uniform is a part of your child's identity as a student of St Joseph's and an important part of feeling a sense of belonging.

This week: Hat check!

Parents are asked to particularly check school hats. If your child's hat is becoming frayed, celebrate because they haven't lost it and then buy a new one.
