Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
A Catholic school has a unique identity within the context of its place in the Catholic church. As part of the St Joseph's parish, we play an important part in the evangelizing mission of the church along with our business of teaching and learning. In a nutshell, we are about supporting you as parents in your child's growth in faith and improvement in learning.
The heart and energy of Mission has its source in God, not the Church. Mission is what God does, through the church and in the world. In other words, it is not that God’s Church has a mission but rather that God’s mission has a church. (Dr Jill Gowdie)
What we do together here at St Joseph's contributes to what God does, and is, in the world. Our mission is about what we do and who we serve. Our vision is what we aspire to become. Clarity about our vision and mission provides us with a compass that informs everything about the school and our culture.
Over the next 18 months, the renewal of our vision and mission will be part of the school improvement plan. Staff will begin work on this during our staff spirituality day on Friday 4 June. During that time we will also begin to reflect on the school charism. Charisms are the spiritual assets that make us distinctive. At St Joseph's they are sourced in the life and faith of St Joseph and St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.
I hope to involve parents and students in the renewal of our vision and mission, and in the formation of our charism, over the next 18 months.
Thank you for your part in our school and parish community, a community of faith where God's mission has a school.
Have a wonderful week.
St Joseph, pray for us.
Jen Charadia
Principal
