District Athletic Sports
55 students from Grades 3-6 represented the school last Tuesday at the Deborah District Athletic Sports. The weather was perfect and the quality of competition was excellent. It was great to see our students trying hard and competing to the best of their ability.
We had a number of outstanding individual results, however it was our relay teams that stood out on the day – with 7 of our 8 teams winning their respective events. Congratulations to our 10 Years Boys, 10 Years Girls, 11 Years Girls, 12 Years Boys and 12 Years Girls who have won through to the next level of competition. Both the 9 Years Boys and 9 Years Girls also won their events, however 9 Years don’t progress any further than District level. Our 11 Years Boys were unlucky to be pipped right on the finish line, however they should be very proud of the efforts in coming second.
All students should be congratulated for their exceptional efforts and behaviour on the day.
Based on their results from the Sports, we now have a number of students who have qualified to represent the school at the Sandhurst Division Athletic Sports on Monday the 12th of September. These students have been informed of their selection. Further information will be sent home with these students via the Compass portal shortly.

Year 3 students are gearing up for another German Poetry & Art competition where the work of Austrian artist Hundertwasser will be the focus. As part of acquainting students with his work we have enjoyed the offerings on website jigsawplanet.com in class time. Families may also like to go to for some home time jigsaw puzzling on-line. Please search under " Hundertwasser Paintings" which will deliver a wonderful range of works for you to engage with.
Year 4 students cannot do the Poem "Guten Tag Herr Montag" as they had done that one last year.
Danke schön !

Music Information Night - BSE
In preparation for the info night, Bendigo South East College instrumental music teachers, Jenny Gogolin and Warwick Cohen visited Grade 6 students at SGPS this week. Students had the opportunity to play the flutes and clarinets and did a brilliant job at this. Jenny and Warwick were really impressed with the sounds that Spring Gully students were able to make. There is definitely a lot of potential in our Grade 6 cohort to be awesome at instrumental music in Grade 7!
There are some wonderful videos about the different instruments available and an opportunity to see the actual BSE music teachers at this link: https://www.bimp.org.au/concert-band-1
A music information night is being held at 7pm on Thursday 25th at the BSE Theatre where students can try out instruments and meet the teachers.
