Mr G's Goss

WOW what a busy couple of weeks we have had at Somerville Primary School. Our senior students went on Urban camp and we all had a fantastic time visiting lots of different places such as Artvo, ACMI, Immigration museum, MCG, Australian Sports Museum, Melbourne Zoo, O’Brien Ice Skating and Strike Bowling. After a busy few days, I am sure there were some very tired students on Friday night, I was exhausted. The Marine Ambassadors have gone down to Mornington today. They have visited the Narambi Wetlands where the shire is opening a litter track and Mornington Pier to look at the impact of our lifestyle on the coastal environment.

The Year 2’s have Day Camp coming up next Tuesday 9th August at the Briars. I am sure they will have a super exciting day that is full of fun and adventure.

There are many more exciting events coming up that I look forward to sharing with you this term such as Middle School camp, Year 3-6 House Athletics day, Wakakirri and Book Fair just to mention a few.

UNIFORM

This term we will be having a blitz to ensure all students are wearing the correct uniform. I have attached a copy of the current uniform policy so that everyone is aware of what is and is not the correct uniform at Somerville Primary School.

From next term, we will have some new uniform items that are for sale as can be seen in the pictures below. There will be more about this in the next newsletter. I look forward to seeing all of our students in the correct school uniform for the remainder of the year.

READING NIGHTS

I have continued to be super impressed with the progress students have been making with their reading nights. A number of students will reach 50, 100, 150 and the magical 200 reading nights mark, this term. Keep up the exceptional work.

ASSEMBLY AWARDS

Congratulations to all of our Somerville Star Award winners at our assembly last week. You have all done a sensational job and set a wonderful example for your classmates. Also well done to our Year 4 students for running their very first Assembly.
