Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes
We have been invited to contribute to the charity Operation Christmas Child. This charity sends gift filled shoeboxes to children all over the world each year. These boxes are distributed in communities and villages where there is considerable poverty and people struggle to make ends meet.
In 2021 shoe boxes were delivered to countries such as Cambodia, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Madagascar which were collected from Australia and New Zealand.
Operation Christmas child is hoping to increase the number of boxes that are collected from the Echuca/Moama district so that more children will have the opportunity to receive these donated gifts in a shoebox.
Boxes are packed for both boys and girls in the following age groups: 2-4 yrs, 5-9 yrs, 10-14 yrs
The boxes are filled with gifts from 6 different categories eg.
1. Something to wear
2. Something to love
3. Somethings for school
4. Something to play with
5. Somethings for personal hygiene
6. Something Special
The organisation estimates that each box costs approx $10 to process and transport from Australia to the receiving country and if this donation can be made with each shoebox they are most grateful.
Students can cover their own shoe box (A4 size base) with wrapping paper or artwork to personalise. Students are also encouraged to include a card or letter to the child with a Christmas greeting if they wish.
The shoe boxes are distributed in the receiving country by volunteers and / or local churches.
The completed boxes will be collected at school on Friday 14 October.

K-2 Swimming
This term from 8 August to 12 August we are pleased to be able to offer a one week intensive Learn to Swim program to our Kindergarten to Year 2 students. The program will be conducted by qualified experienced swimming instructors from the Campaspe Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Echuca.
It is important that our students experience water safety and good swimming techniques whilst they develop as young learners. Through learning correct swimming techniques the students develop a love and respect for water safety in all aquatic environments that they may encounter.
The lessons will run for 30 minutes. The students will get changed into their correct swimming attire and a big long warm jumper before leaving school by bus with their class teachers supervising and will need to take a towel and possibly a swimming cap and goggles so they can participate daily for the week.
RAS Athletics - Albury
We would like to wish all our RAS representatives good luck in the upcoming Athletics carnival which will be held on Tuesday 2nd of August.

Make a Wish Casual Clothes day
On 5 August, the Primary school will be having a gold coin donation casual dress day to support the Make a Wish Foundation. The Make a Wish Foundation has granted more than 10,000 wishes to children all over Australia.
Wish impact studies from around the world show that a wish is a powerful life-changing experience that gives hope and joy to sick children, many of whom go on to live with (and even beat) their illness. And for everyone involved, from the volunteers to our community partners and friends – wishes have a remarkable, uplifting and positive impact, well beyond the wish itself.
If you'd like to make a direct donation to the Make a Wish program, you can donate via Sarah Ross's (school parent) fundraising page here.
