"Be The Best That You Can Be" - Promoting Independant Learning and Growth

VTAC SEASON IS UPON US!

Year 12 VCE/VCAL students are currently in the process of applying for courses via the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC).

On Wednesday 27th July year 12s attended a VTAC Information session in the Library. For those students who could not attend and for students who want a recap on what was presented, a TEAMS post was uploaded last week for your reference. I encourage all year 12 student who are considering studies next year and even those who are contemplating deferring their studies to read this important TEAMS post.   Note, applications to many Diploma courses are completed via VTAC so check details of the course you are considering to ensure you apply via the correct avenue.

For parents who would like to gain a greater understanding of the VTAC application process I have attached is a copy of the VTAC presentation below for your reference:

A reminder that students are able to open their VTAC account as of Monday 1st August.    The link below provides assistance on how the account can be opened.

VTAC Application Fees/Due Dates (2022):

Timely course applications close 29th September ($44.00)

Late applications – 29th September – 4th November ($126.00)

Very late applications – 4th November – 2nd December ($164.00)

Other important dates can be found on VTAC website - https://www.vtac.edu.au/dates.html

Please note, that students do not need to have all of their preferences organised by 29th September, they have all year to do this…but having said this, it’s strongly advised to not leave this important research/tasks until the last minute!  The last day to have all preferences in order is by 14th December, 4pm.

Timely applications means that in order to lock in the minimum VTAC application fee of $44 students must open and enter one course preference by 29th September.  As advised during the information session I also strongly recommended that students pay for their account when they open it to avoid forgetting about it later on.  If VTAC accounts are not paid, VTAC will not forward student course preferences to the institutions.

SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme)

In reference to SEAS (Special Consideration) there are four SEAS Categories.

  1. Personal Information & Location
  2. Disadvantaged financial background
  3. Disability & medical condition
  4. Difficult Circumstances (further details on all categories via VTAC website)

I recommend that ALL year 12s apply for at least SEAS Category 1 & 4.  In addition, students were advised that if they are applying for SEAS they should also be applying for Scholarships.   Students only need one SEAS & Scholarship application to be entered via VTAC which will then be forwarded to all of the institutions listed on the student’s preference list.

SEAS & Scholarship applications are due by 7th October, 5pm. Students have been provided with an extensive guide on how they can apply for each category and must start this process early as some categories require supporting statements to be made by others.  VTAC will not accept applications after this date.  If any student requires assistance with their SEAS I encourage them to see me.

NOTE: A reminder that VTAC is able to offer a proofreading service for SEAS applications if it’s submitted by 16th September.  This is a great way of ensuring that the information entered is correct which will then provide students with the best outcome possible.

SCHOLARSHIPS

There are approximately 200 scholarships that students can apply for via VTAC and a list of these are on the VTAC website – www.vtac.edu.au  One Scholarship application is required via VTAC and it will be forwarded to all institutions on preference list.  If, however students want to view and apply direct to any individual institution’s Scholarships they can do so by visiting our Careers Website for details – www.whsccareer.com , click Post School Options – University – Scholarships.
