Design with a Need in Mind
Our Unit of Work this term is ‘Design with a Need in Mind’.
This unit focuses on creating innovative ideas and using the Design Process to help solve real life problems or to fill a need.
The key understandings/essential learnings for this Unit of Work:
- Students describe innovative ideas and how they meet the needs of the community and the environment
- Students can recognise the role of inventors and how they have contributed to solving design problems
- Students create innovative solutions to a problem, considering its sustainability and the impact it would have on the environment
- Students reflect on their design and evaluate its purpose and need
- Students follow the steps of the Design Process
- Students communicate and share their design to showcase their innovative idea
