Chaplain's Message

Sense of Self

Sense of Self

Gen 1 27a tells us that we are made in HIS image! As such we can walk tall knowing we are designed for something special - it doesn't have to be something big but we do have a journey mapped out for us. Whether we choose to take it, is another matter; the privilege of choice. We have the right to a sense of self, knowing that we can achieve all things set before us, and we can always ask for help - it's only a breath away!

This short story gives us a beautiful insight of a little girl growing up with a deep sense of self and clearly someone who has been encouraged to achieve and value that which is before her!

Many members of the Taft family have made their mark in the political arena. Apparently, they were very good at recognising each other's abilities and special talents. When Martha Taft was in primary school, she was asked to introduce herself. She said, "My name is Martha Bowers Taft. My great -grandfather was President of the United States. My grandfather was a United States Senator. My daddy is Ambassador to Ireland, and I am a Brownie."

As you stand tall and introduce yourself, what do value and appreciate about what's before you?

Go safely.
