Friend-o-Leaders

The Friend-o-Leaders are a group of Year 5 students who have been trained to help children with friendship issues - or as we call them, Friendship Fires – when they are out in the yard. The Friend-o-Leaders help students work their way around the Friend-o-Cycle until the Friendship Fire is all the way out. Their job is to support students to confront the issue, talk it out and forgive and forget. The Friend-o-Leaders are also there to help if students are having trouble finding someone to play with.

The Friend-o-Leaders noticed there were lots of Friendship Fires in the sandpit. They decided that more sand and more sandpit toys, along with some guidance about how to play cooperatively with one another would help resolve this issue. So far so good!

 Coding Club

Sphero Bolt
Sphero Bolt

Coding Club has started for Years 5 and 6 on Fridays and approximately 25 students have joined. The students are currently working in the Scratch platform which is block coding. They are looking forward to the Sphero Bolt arriving so that they can see their coding in action. The students have discussed as a group which string based language they will explore in Term 4.

The Year 3 and 4 coders have been working on code.org to create own own 'Sprites' and they are loving it!
