Join us at Assembly

It has been a long time since we have been able to run assemblies with some sense of normality. We are pleased to inform the community that although face masks are required for adults, we welcome parents to attend assembly on Mondays at 2:45pm in the Sports and Performance Centre.

Mrs Rouda and I take the back seat and watch our expert Year 6 Leaders run the show. Speaking at assembly equips the students with excellent organisational and public speaking skills and it is wonderful to observe their confidence blossom each week.

Acknowledgement of Country

Today we were lucky enough to have Clive and Ricky lead the Acknowledgement of Country, wearing our school possum skin cloak, made by our Koorie Students and School Captains in 2019.

Weekly Performances

Most weeks we are entertained with a range of special performances showcasing the diverse programs offered across the school.

Last week 3A wowed us with their wonderful percussion performance titled ‘waterbird’.

This week Year 5 showcased their autobiography writing skills as well as their public speaking abilities. They certainly achieved the brief which was to share significant moments or information about themselves in a way that would engage their audience.

Not only did they demonstrate their ability to speak with perfect pace, volume, expression, poise and eye contact, but entertained with all their gory accident recounts, as well as their heart felt reflections of overcoming difficult medical injuries or illnesses.

Celebrating 100 Days at School

Last week our junior grades had a fun filled day celebrating 100 and 101 days at school this year.

Foundation celebrated by dressing up as if they were 100 years old. They had their teachers in fits of laughter as they discussed what they might look like, where they might live, and what they might do when they are 100.

Year 1 added an extra day and celebrated 101 days at school. What better way to do so by dressing up as Dalmatians. Students were involved in a fun day of activities including making special hats, writing what they would do if they had to look after 101 Dalmatians, as well as baking Dalmatian cookies.

Year 2 created constructions with 100 blocks, timed a range of activities they could do in 100 seconds, wrote about what they would like to achieve by the time they reach 100 and learnt from Mrs Pechar what it was like when she was a child. Poor Mrs Pechar, I don’t think she is quite 100 yet!

Welcome Back Mrs Rouda

Next week Mrs Rouda will be in for a rude shock as she settles back into reality and is sitting behind her desk in the cold winter, rather than relaxing at a Tuscan villa. I'm sure she will dazzle us with highlights from her European adventure in the next Newsletter.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
