News from Nurse Jess

Hello Yarrabah Community from Nurse Jess

I would like to introduce myself; my name is Jess and I’m the newly appointed School Nurse at Yarrabah. I’ve had a lovely beginning to the school term getting to know the students, teachers and families and learning what a wonderful community you have here at Yarrabah.

A bit about myself! I have been an Enrolled Nurse for just over 8 years and during this time have worked in a range of settings being acute hospitals, GP clinics, schools and I’m also a mum to 3 kids which I think gives you more experience than anything when it comes to dealing with children. I’m currently also studying to become a certified baby and child sleep consultant and thoroughly enjoy learning the science behind sleep and how to achieve this with our kids. Educating parents is also a special interest of mine which I was able to fulfil during my time working with Kidzaid Australia where I was able to go out into the community empowering and teaching parents the importance of Paediatric First aid & CPR.

Despite working with people of all ages my passion has always been working with children and families. Being able to provide support and guidance to parents when caring for their most precious possession, their kids is a true privilege for me. I hope during my time at Yarrabah I can work closely with you as the parents to provide the best care and support for your child whilst they are here with us at Yarrabah.

I am located in the new Admin building on Mill St and my door is always open if you need to have a chat.

Look forward to meeting and working with you all

Jess
