Instrumental Music

Year 7 cello students Amirah Ahmet and Khyara Austen; and (main picture) Charlotte Amadei, Hannah Watkins and Anastasia Morrison participating in an online piano lesson.

I teach piano, cello and double bass across all three campuses as well as classroom music and Learning Mentor at the Mooroopna campus. At the beginning of the term I was quite anxious about what teaching and learning would look like via a computer for instrumental music students. After completing some online webinars during the holidays to assist me with the dos and don’ts of it all, I was as ready as I would ever be to commence the term.

At the end of Week 3 I am delighted to report that not only have the majority of students been able to attend their lessons online, but have been online superstars as well. I am grateful and appreciative of how the students have been organised for their lessons, how they are so well-mannered and polite online, interacting with each other respectfully and remaining focused for the entire time. Although we are not in the same teaching studio together we are getting by and continuing to make progress every week. Hats off to Mrs Drinnan’s instrumental music students!
