Lighthouse Project

Industry Links
Following the successful Industry Links project commenced by Carla Miles, Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project in 2016 and 2017, this year the program welcomes a new coordinator to the role.
Amy will be located in the School’s Careers Centre every Thursday and working closely with Careers Advisor Mary-ann Linehan as well as assisting teachers to link their curriculum to the local operating environment.
The Lighthouse project role allows the strengthening of local employment options and pathways by embedding information in a local, real-world approach and as students consider their subject selections matching future work and study options.
The project creates links to business owners, industries and employers within the Greater Shepparton area and seeks to increase students’ exposure to work experience opportunities and increase student awareness of the types of attitudes and skills employers are looking for within the changing nature of the ‘world of work’.
The value of the curriculum linking activities has been evident with the many teachers already committing to work together with the Lighthouse Coordinator so far this term.
Amy looks forward to working with teachers and students on many exciting activities some of which are already in the pipeline for 2018.
