Queen's Baton Relay

On Wednesday 21st February, all Shepparton High School students and staff were provided with the opportunity of experiencing a historical Baton Relay throughout the school grounds. The Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) runs for a total of 388 days (including overseas and Australia) covering more than 230,000 to the lead up to the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony which will be held on the Gold Coast on Wednesday 4 April.

Two local Batonbearers were cheered and ‘hi-fived’ as they made their way through the school grounds by students, Dhami Singh also known as ‘Mr Sheppy’ and Verney Road student Zahra Al Hindawi were given the privilege of being a baton-bearer for their contributions to the community.

It was very pleasing to see all students welcoming the community members and QBR staff to the school grounds, the students demonstrated a lot of respect and represented the school extremely well. Thank you to the QBR website and our very own IT Coordinator, Stephen Meddings for supplying the images from the relay.
