Reunion Island Visit

Are you going to Reunion Island next year ?
Last term, MFG and other local families hosted twenty students and three teachers from our sister school, Lycée Sarda Garriga on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean. For twelve days students from Matthew Flinders, their siblings and parents showed their guests our part of the world. Some of the Reunion Island students learnt to surf, some took the ferry to Sorrento, some went trampolining, some were invited to a birthday party and some got to cuddle koalas. Two students even got the chance to attend an Ed Sheeran concert! The opportunities were many and varied.
All of our guests were welcomed to Geelong at a barbecue in a wool shed on the Freeman family’s farm. They travelled down the Great Ocean Road, attended classes at Matthew Flinders, visited Sovereign Hill and panned for gold and learnt to throw a boomerang at Narana.
We thank our host families for their generosity and indefatigable efforts. Without their enthusiasm this important exchange between our two schools would not exist.
We hope that we can confirm next week that we will be organising a return trip to Reunion Island next year. All students, especially French students, who will be in years 9-12 in 2019 will be eligible to attend this 17-day trip to Mauritius and Reunion Island. If approved, we will visit these two idyllic islands during the last week of term one and for most of the term one holidays. The cost will be approximately $3,900.
If you are keen to participate next year, please let a French teacher know.
