Year 9 Drama Excursion to see "The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Nighttime"

In term one, the Year Nine Drama Class, Mr Baumgarten and I went to Melbourne to see the ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime’. It was a great day with a train ride up together, some fun at Federation Square eating lunch and then going to see the show at the Arts Centre.  ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime’ is based on a book that follows 15 year old, Christopher Boone, as he goes on an investigation in figuring out who killed a dog in his neighbourhood.

The show was incredible, with a non-conventional set and an amazingly clever use of props, acting and storyline. The show had been in London theatres and Broadway before making its way here to Melbourne at the MTC. Year Nine student, Olivia Leslie, said that the show was, “confronting in the best of ways. If anything it was to make you think inside the mind of someone deemed 'different' from all of us, it'd be that show.” Students found the show to be a great experience, and I would personally recommend either seeing it or at least reading the original novel. I am so fortunate to have been invited along to this excursion and have, as well as many others, not only found this show to be beneficial to my education from a drama perspective but on so many other levels.
