HUB HAPPENINGS
Project 1: How do you adapt to thrive?
For Term 2, Year 7 continued to work though Project 1: How do you adapt to thrive? The focus of their studies flew to China, where students were tasked with creating a completely new animal and highlight their adaptations in different landscapes. We had Progafarmer’s, Frogapanda’s, Frogacrabamerm (lots of frogs) and even a Hawkman. We then jumped back to Ancient China where they were tasked with creating an original picture book based on the lives of Ancient Chinese people. Whilst there were a few historically inaccurate Spiderman’s and dinosaurs involved in building The Great Wall of China, we were very impressed with all of HUB’s creative efforts.
7/360s
The end of the semester marked the first-round of 7/360 interviews and week 5 was a whirlwind in HUBs to prep student portfolios with assessment reflections. The Wednesday afternoon interviews went swimmingly (the snacks were delicious), and it was fabulous meeting and greeting the parents of our students and giving students the opportunity to showcase their work.
Project 2: Are you Water Wise?
In week 7, HUBs began their second project, examining water as a resource and the factors influencing its availability in different places. A large focus is on sustainability and to kick start this project, HUBs headed to the Hunter Wetlands, an excursion headed by a very excited Mr Rumball. If you see him in the playground, make sure you ask him to explain what northings and eastings are!
