From the Principal

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Staff and Friends of St Norbert College,

“We loved listening to the student tour guides speaking so humbly, but very              proudly, about their school”.

“It was not only what we saw that we were so impressed by, but what we felt. The atmosphere made us want to be a part of the College”.

“What a beautiful school – facilities yes, but most importantly, people”.

(Open Day feedback)

Our College Open Day, held on Friday, 5 March, provided some wonderful opportunities for members of our community and our College. The community are able to come and see our College in action, to witness the engaging learning environments and sense of community that we offer here. It is also a wonderful opportunity for us as a College, to celebrate and share what it means to be a member of our College community.

We are enormously proud and grateful to our student tour guides, the best example and advertisement for our College, as evidenced by the comments above. There were so many more comments we could have printed that complimented our student tour guides as the true highlight of the experience for our visitors.

In this newsletter, I would like to herald an act of selflessness by one of our staff. Last Sunday our students were participating in a Beach Volleyball tournament at City Beach and did very well. During the course of the day, our much-valued Mathematics teacher Mr Luke Nuske went to the aid in the treacherous conditions of a distressed mother, who was in serious danger of drowning with her six-month-old baby in her arms. Whilst remaining very humble about his heroism, this amazing response from Mr Nuske in saving both the mother and baby cannot go unnoticed by us – he was truly “prepared for all good works”.

Finally, members of our community may be aware of the challenges we have faced this week. I thank our staff, the Norbertines, our parents and guardians, family and friends for their ongoing trust and support. Most importantly, I would like to acknowledge our students who ‘in the middle of everything’ were able to maintain our ever-present sense of community in supporting each other, all the while keeping focused on their educational endeavours at hand. Pillars that we hold so dear here at St Norbert College.

And a special shout out to the real stars on the Canning Vale bus run who welcomed and kept me entertained earlier this week!!!

                                                                                                                               God Bless.

Mr S Harvey (Principal)
