From the classroom-Auslan

From Liam, Auslan teacher

In the first couple of weeks in Auslan classes,  we have been revising fingerspelling and numbers. This has been important for some of the new students to give them some Auslan skills to participate in games. One of the warm-ups we have been focusing on is a game called “Codebreaker”. I am sure if you ask any of the students they will be able to explain how it works and what the Auslan focus of the game is.

We have also started learning how to sign the National Anthem of Australia using this video to help us learn.

This video is a few years old so it does not have the new lyrics or sign for the recent change to the National Anthem. We have discussed in class the change. We have also been discussing the sign for "Australia" which again, I am sure, the students will be able to explain some things we learned in class.

Please find following a video for anyone who feels they are a bit rusty from the holidays and want to practice their fingerspelled alphabet or the signs for numbers.
