Solar Panels to be installed at Beaumaris PS

Successful Greener Government Schools Grant Application

We are delighted to announce the Victorian Schools Building Authority has accepted our grant application and a solar power system will be installed at our school in the coming months.

The GGSB program was established to contribute to the Victorian Government’s goal of net zero emissions by 2050 by promoting environmental sustainability and the use of renewable energy in schools.

Our purpose in applying for the grant was to demonstrate to our students our ongoing commitment to provide examples of real world practices that enable the reduction of our carbon footprint.

The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) will manage this project for our school.

The installation of solar panels will further support the strong sustainability program at BPS. I would like to thank school council and members of staff for taking the time to prepare our application.

Parent Club AGM

Yesterday class representatives met for the 2020 AGM.

It was a lovely change to see parents face to face. Thank you for your attendance. We enjoy a high level of involvement and support from parents and the home/school partnership is highly valued.

Thank you to Lisa for her leadership of Parent Club as President during 2020. It was a year like no other and yet where the opportunity arose our parents supported each other, their children and the school for which we are extremely grateful.

Congratulations to the following Office Bearers for 2021. We look forward to continuing our work together.

President: Lisa Grant

Vice President: Lyndl Harrop

Secretary: Tara Bertovic

Easter Raffle and Easter Bonnet Parade 31st March

Our collection of donated chocolate goodies is growing.

Thank you to our very generous students and their families for your contribution to our annual Easter Raffle.

We are looking forward to our Prep and Year 1 Easter Bonnet Parade at the beginning of the school day (2 adults per family due to density limits) and a whole school assembly, (students and staff only due to density limits), at 2.45pm to draw the raffle. The Easter Bunny may make a special appearance on the day.

A date for the diary: Working Bee

9.00-11.00am Sunday 28th March

We invite families to come along to spend time tidying the garden areas and the grounds overall.  We will serve light refreshments for families at 11.00am. Signing in and social distancing will apply.  As the work is outdoors and the usual attendance is between 20 and 30 people, density limits are manageable. While the adults work in areas around the school the children generally play in the yard and help where they can which makes it quite a nice time for everyone. If you have an hour or two to spare we look forward to seeing you on the day.

Crazy Hair Day this Friday 12th March

Student voice, agency and leadership are high priorities at BPS.

Our Junior School Councillors have met to discuss their action plan for the year ahead.

They are very excited to announce their first whole school social service initiative for  2021.

Beaumaris Primary School will be holding a ‘Crazy Hair Day’ on Friday. Students will be required to wear full school uniform, however Junior School Council hopes everyone will come to school  with "the craziest hair they can think of".

When: Friday 12th March

What: Crazy Hair Day

Bring: Gold Coin Donation for the Leukemia Foundation

More information can be found in the Compass message that was sent to families yesterday.

Congratulations to JSC for identifying this very worthy cause as the recipients of funds raised.

Free Cyber Safety Webinar for Parents and Carers

The ESafety Commissioner is running free webinars throughout March (16th, 17th, 18th and 22nd)  for parents around cyber safety. This webinar will look at how parents and carers can support young people to have safe and respectful online relationships and what to do if things go wrong.

It will cover:

  • starting conversations with your child about their online friendships and positive ways to deal with changing relationships
  • understanding the rights, laws and community expectations that govern social media use
  • where to seek help if your child is involved in a cyberbullying incident.

The webinar will include case studies, research and targeted advice so you can support the young people in your life to have safe, enjoyable online experiences.

If you would like to attend, please register here: https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents/webinars

What are three things that went well for you today?

What are the best things that happened to you today?

Who are you most grateful for and why?

What are you looking forward to most about tomorrow?
