Student Voice & Agency

Our students talk values.

Preamble

As part of our school review we have been listening to the voices of our students. We began a Values project that culminated in five students telling us what they think about IPS and our school values and how those values are relevent to them.

The big project was filmed yesterday and will be showcased at the beginning of Term Two.

In the meantime other students contributions were so good we had to share. They were so prolific we will spread them out over the coming weeks.

Year 4 Museum Excursion

The Museum -  recounts

On Wednesday all of the grade fours went to the museum. We went in two separate buses. We left roughly around 9:10am

When we arrived at the museum, I met my joyful dad at the museum. Next we had our fruit snack. It was an astonishing day and the weather was perfect.

Next, my group journeyed to the Melbourne Story (play intense music). It was thrilling and there was so much to do.

After that, everyone stopped to have recess. Everyone bolted to their snack.

Excitedly, we all travelled (across the amazing museum…) to the Forest Gallery. At first, we all went through a long cave and after we jumped out of it and we spotted an exquisite lizard and somebody tried to pick it up (play intense music again).

Finally we went to (my personal favourite) Dynamic Earth! Dynamic earth had so much to do. We watched a video ,we looked at minerals it was the best!

Overall I had a great time.

On Wednesday the 17th of March, the grade fours had an excursion to The Melbourne Museum. The class took the bus to the Museum (it took 40 minutes). When we arrived, I gazed upon the vast museum.

Next, we ate our Fruit Snack for 10 minutes just before we headed into the Museum. The first activity was to visit the Melbourne gallery, the Melbourne gallery consisted of antique Melbourne objects. After that, we had recess that only lasted 10min! After Recess, we visited the Forrest Gallery, the Forrest gallery consisted of over 100 plants!

Then, we learnt about the indigenous people (Called “The First People’s Exhibition”). The First People’s Exhibition was interesting because it showed how people lived their lives when they didn’t have things like TVs or PCs. I learnt that the indigenous people made their cloaks and blankets out of possum skin!

Just before we went home, we looked at Dynamic Earth which was all about the rocks the most interesting rock was gold!

Finally, we got in the bus and went home. But before we went home we talked about the trip and what everyone thought about it.

What a fabulous trip we had!

Yesterday, on Wednesday, we went to Melbourne museum and I saw the Dynamic Earth Exhibition. There was lots of different rocks and minerals. Some of them were pyrite, aragonite and diamonds.

Dynamic Earth was my favourite exhibition. In Dynamic Earth there were also dinosaur skeletons. Some were massive and some were little. My favourite dinosaur skeleton was the T-rex skeleton. I had a lot of fun!

At the Melbourne Museum there are so many things to look at. First I looked at the bugs and butterflies. They were magnificent! The details were just incredible. Some were huge and some were tiny.

Next I went to the forest gallery. The forest gallery was spectacular. It was so beautiful, all the flowers, all the marvellous trees, it was so brilliant.

Then I went to the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Culture Centre. I learnt all about Aboriginal culture. I had a lot of fun.

I loved going to the Museum it was so much fun!

“Alexa time to wake up” my mum chanted as I woke up with a delightful smile on my face, but still very exhausted. It was finally the day to go to the Museum, I got ready lightning fast!!!

After the class stomped down the alleyway we arrived at the bus stop. My mind was filled to the brim with exciting thoughts about the excursion.

We finally arrived at the Museum after an endless ride on the bus, anyway…

I have my own top two amusing exhibits. My first one is the Dynamic earth with all the exotic and glistening rocks, crystals and geodes. I also adored the volcanic 3D screen!

My other favourite was the Melbourne Story and we saw the famous Phar Lap, a magnificent and stunning horse.

I appreciate all the teachers that planned this tremendous excursion, I absolutely will treasure this for a very long time!

I arrived at School and I was bursting with excitement! I felt like I was going to pop! The bus was louder than a pack of wild animals, and they’re loud! When we arrived at the museum we had our fruit snack, then we had to get into our groups.

First we went to the forest gallery. It was breath-taking. There were vines, trees and other beautiful plants. I could really smell the fresh air. I noticed that the plants had just been watered. There were little droplets of water on them.

Then we saw Dynamic Earth, which showed us how the earth and Crystals were made. Some of the crystals were astonishing! Some of the Crystals were so beautiful they didn’t look real! It looked like they sprinkled little specks of glitter on them witch made them shine beautifully

We also saw a few dinosaur bones. They were bigger than a truck!

After that we saw Pharlap, the famous horse! We also saw the Titanic! Well, a mini version… There were also a few more wonderful things.

Lastly, we got onto the bus and went home. We had a Spectacular Day!
