On Tuesday the 15th of March, Mitchell Johnson from 7Q represented the College in the Year 7-9 secondary college golf at Bairnsdale Golf Club. Mitchell started playing in a group of 5, but on finding out that some of the group were beginners, moved to a group of 2 and played out the remaining 8 holes with a Nagle College student. Mitchell started the day strongly, almost driving the first hole and recorded an extremely consistent 9 hole score of 43 that included 2 pars and 7 bogeys. Mitchell commented that the greens are "much quicker" at Bairnsdale as opposed to his home club of South Pines. Great work Mitchell. We hope that you are successful in qualifying for the next round.

Academically, they have been developing upon pre-existing knowledge and skills to meet secondary school expectations and standards, along with being introduced to new strategies and methods in all areas of their learning. Maths has encouraged students to recall number strategies, with a focus on reading for meaning to ensure understanding of what is required. In English, students have been working on creative text organisation, big ideas, voice and building vocabulary.  We have been using the novel Wonder as ourtheme. This has incited some

interesting whole class conversations and written responses, where personal reflection and accountability have been topical. The busyness of secondary schooling can be tiring for our year 7's. 7B can be commended for maintaining their enthusiasm and their love of a "chat", making their mark on the College by week 8 of their first secondary school year.

7B Art

Students have been studying the "Art elements" during this term. At the moment they have learnt how other artists have used line in different ways such as optical illusions, expressive and abstract. They are using what they have seen for inspiration to create their own drawings based on the element of Line.

In Health at the moment, students are working through the overall topic of "Risk Taking". The class started the year looking at risks linked with water safety, then we moved to risks related to different types of transport. In the the last two lessons, 7B has moved to learning about risks associated with smoking. Students have been researching and investigating how advertising has changed over the past 100 years and the impacts on health that smoking causes.
