Medical Issues
Within our College community we have students attending who have compromised immune systems due to the medical treatment they are receiving.
If an infectious disease, such as measles, mumps or chicken pox is suspected or diagnosed please ensure you notify the College as soon as possible.
If your child is unwell you must keep them at home.
This will allow the College to support all families including those dealing with medical issues.
SWPBS - School Wide Positive Behaviour System
School Wide Positive Behaviour System is a program that has been implemented at the Secondary College. The College values points system allows for students who display our College values of respect, responsibility and resilience in their behaviours to be celebrated in an ongoing manner throughout the school year.
- It focuses on the positive behaviours in all areas of the College
- Students are acknowledged for their positive behaviour by being given points each week
- Each teacher can give points of 3, 2, 1 for each of their classes each week
- Educational support staff have the opportunity to allocate 1 point per week
- It is a ‘works in progress’
- If your child is given points you will receive a text informing you of that.
- Once your child gets 10 points a postcard will be sent home – your child now has ‘bragging rights’
- At 21 points your child will get a voucher for the school canteen.
A summary of points awarded to date:
899 students in total have received at least 1 point.
4620 points have been awarded to students.
3 students have received 20 or more points.
Study Nights
Study nights run every week during term on a Wednesday and a Thursday in the Malgobila building in the LRC (Learning Resource Centre). Just because study nights are held in the Senior Hub, they are not limited to senior students, all year levels are strongly encouraged to attend.
Wednesday is for English assistance and Thursday for Maths but sometimes student and staff commitments vary and the lines have been blurred. Students can go to the LRC at the end of the school day and sessions start at approximately 3.30 pm and finishing at 5.00 pm.
Students have the opportunity to meet with their specific teacher, which they can
pre-arrange or there are always other teachers in that subject area available.
Many senior students have formed their own study groups and learning off each other is a well-recognised strategy for all participants.
