Careers

It is encouraging to see so many students take up the opportunities made available to them via the careers events and activities. Congratulations to the 20+ students who have completed work experience so far this term. The range of industries included Building and Construction, Agriculture, Hospitality, Civil construction, Childcare and Automotive. As always, we thank our generous host employers for participating in the program who ensure students gain a valuable insight into the work and training required in their industry. Year 10 - Work Experience
Work Experience is an opportunity for students to spend time in the workplace to observe, and explore a range of career pathways, training and employment options.
Year 10 students are strongly encouraged to undertake work experience as it not only provides valuable information and experiences but can also open up opportunities.
The College permits students in Year 10 to undertake work experience at any time during the school year until mid-November. If you are undertaking a VCE subject in Year 10 it is essential that work experience does not clash with VCE commitments – talk to your VCE teacher when deciding on dates.
Work Experience can be undertaken as a week block or as short as 2-3 days depending on the employer’s needs. Work experience is an observation based activity – you are very limited in what you are permitted to do.
Students are required to complete two OHS Safe@work modules together with the Work Experience Arrangements forms PRIOR to work experience being approved.
Students are welcome to call into Careers for further information and help.
Careers website
The College has a dedicated Careers website that offers a wide range of information and features for students and parents. Updated weekly the site lists information on post school options, apprenticeships and traineeships, information for parents plus quick links to the VTAC course search engine, interactive bullseye posters and lots more.
