Music Practice
Students who learn a musical instrument will need to do some practice. It is important that students learn to manage their own practice and find a time, place and practice style which suits them. Students need to set personal goals, identify what needs to be worked on and devise strategies to solve issues with their performance. Parents can support practice with friendly reminders, providing a well-lit, quiet space and by offering encouragement. Students who practice make progress and there is nothing more motivational than steady progress.
The Euphonium
The Euphonium is a brass instrument, the name of which means ‘well sounding’ or ‘sweet voiced’. It has three valves and produces a low sound like a trombone. Euphoniums are played in many ensembles including concert bands and brass bands. There are currently no students at Bairnsdale Secondary College learning the euphonium but we would like this to change. The College owns several euphoniums which are available to hire for $100 per year and we have a teacher who can teach it. Any interested students should see Mrs Green or Mr Dogger in the Music Centre.
