Year 7 Camp
I was fortunate enough to head up to Forest Edge to visit our Year 7 campers last week. It was fantastic to see them all interacting and challenging themselves with activities that they would not normally have experienced. And while the noise at meal time of 150 plus students is a sound that is still ringing in my ears, it was the sound of energy and enthusiasm that I hope they bring back to school this week, and for the rest of the year. To share with you more about the Year 7 camp highlights we have Rhianna and Daniela.
"My experience at year 7 camp
I liked the flying fox even though it was a little bit scary at first but once I got off the platform that we walked off to ride the flying fox, it was fun.
I also liked the talent quest and the movie night because the movie was funny and the
talents that people had were interesting.
So other than the scary bits of camp my experience was amazing."

"My experience at camp was fun. I got to make heaps of friends and do so much fun and scary activities like Mountain boarding, Jug and Jog and heaps more. My favourite activities were probably high ropes, flying fox and the water slide. Us year 7s and teachers also had a talent show which was funny, we also had a movie night which was also very fun."

The Uniform
Reputable organisations around the world have chosen to use uniform as a way of
1. emphasising unity,
2. for promoting community and
3. for setting themselves apart from those outside of the organisation as a type of badge of honour.
At St. Peter's College we have a lovely uniform that has the added layer of tradition of those who established our school. Our uniform has very symbolic colouring, that reflects the martyrdom of St Peter and links us to our Christian story. The uniform helps all members of this community to feel a part of something bigger.
We do not have the competition of having to wear the latest trend or to keep up with the Jones' next door. The "withs" and the "withouts" in our community are less obvious due to having a uniform that unites all. Our morning routine is made simple. No need to debate as to whether you wore the same shirt or dress last week; we just wake up and put on our St. Peter's College Uniform.
Worn well and with pride, it also helps to reflect the high expectations that we have of our young people. Expectations to be more positive in our thinking and mindset, more persistent and resilient in overcoming the bumps in our learning journey and generally more committed to be learners who strive to be better tomorrow than we were today.
At St. Peter's College we focus on the narrative that what makes each of us special is what is in our hearts and minds and judged by our actions and not needing to be overtly expressed through attention seeking and unnatural hair styles, trendy facial piercings or any other adjustments to the uniform.
And, it is for this reason, that we ask your support in ensuring that the uniform and presentation expectations that you agreed to when enrolling your child, are maintained. In the words of Paul Kelly "From Little Things, Big Things Grow" and we at St. Peter's College believe that wearing the uniform well is one of those little things that speaks volumes for each student's pride in themselves, their learning journey at St. Peter's College and their school as a whole.
