VISUAL ARTS

EXHIBITION AT GLEN EIRA GALLERY

Visual Arts at McKinnon have been making our presence known to the wider community. This is something that is very important to the Visual Arts team, and we are very happy to announce that a selection of artworks were exhibited at Gallery Annex, at the Glen Eira City Council Gallery.

It is wonderful to see work from McKinnon students from all levels on display for the public to view. A total of 30 students were selected to exhibit their work.

The students and the media they used can be seen here. Check out the full exhibition here.

Congratulations to Eric Liao (Year 7) whose lino print caught the eye of a member of the gallery’s staff who liked the artwork so much that they have asked to purchase the linoprint. :)

VCE MEDIA EXCURSION TO TOP SCREEN

Ben Mizrahi

On Wednesday 28 April, the VCE classes of Years 11 and 12 made the treacherous journey to Flinders Street Station to watch the top selection of student short films for AMCI’s Top Screen Season of Excellence.

There was a vast variety of films that we got to watch - mockumentaries, traditional animations, dramas, comedies, and even a short film where the lead character attempted to do her Year 12 SACs during the midst of a zombie apocalypse. Overall most of the films were entertaining considering they were mostly shot during a COVID lockdown. Some were definitely better than others (but that’s just my humble opinion). Some personal standouts were James Miller’s ‘Magnum Opus’ and Miki Flett’s ‘Space Cadet’.

We definitely recommend you to come by ACMI to watch some fun short movies if you have the spare time.
