SSV GOLF
Fast greens and long fairways, that's what 25 of McKinnon's most prestigious golfers experienced on Friday 23 March. After being absolutely robbed at the chance of playing at the Masters at Augusta, McKinnon’s golfers had to settle for 9 holes at the Woodlands Golf Course for this spectacular event. All eyes were initially on the self-proclaimed captain, Fraser Sharman-Smith (Year 12), who fell well short of everyone's expectations, hitting a woeful 32 over par!
Luckily, Trinity Francis (Year 12) was there to redeem McKinnon's reputation, hitting an impressive 1 under par and taking out the title for the girls competition. A remarkable 42 balls were lost on the day and despite the miserable performance from most, everyone had a great time as the day was filled with laughter and joy.
Huge thanks to Kirby ‘McIlroy’ McConnon who somehow managed to get us there safely, as well as giving less-skilled golfers tips and finally taking us all out for lunch to top it off.
Look out for some golf events taking place in Term 4.

On Wednesday 5 May, the Year 8 Softball team played in the Southern Metro Region Grand Final against Alkira Secondary College. The girls took a convincing lead scoring 8 out of a possible 11 runs in the 1st innings and held Alkira to only 5 runs.
Consistency shone through as the girls went on to score another 8 runs in both the 2nd and 3rd Innings winning the game an impressive 24-10. The girls now progress through to State Finals in term 4.
Well done to all the students in the Softball squad.
