Message from the Principal

Achieving Excellence Together

Dear families,

Wow! Our Learning Powers Launch Performance on Monday was simply incredible. The enthusiasm, creativity and engagement demonstrated by every student is a testament to the work they have put toward their performance. Thank you to those who were available to join us. A recording of each class performance is available through our YouTube channel and importantly, there is still time to vote. Check out the news story for more details. With students now having a greater understanding of the powers within them that drives even greater learning, we know they will achieve even greater levels of excellence together. This exciting start to Term 4 is just the beginning with planned excursions, the Year 6 Big Day Out, New Prep Students Transition, 3/4 Camp, Whole School Swimming Program, The APS 1/2 student Grand Prix and of course teaching and learning at the highest possible standard. Keep an eye out on your Compass app to consent and pay for student excursions and events before the due date. Our friendly Office Team is of course available to you if you require more support.

School Uniform

School Uniform is mandatory at Albanvale Primary School. It promotes a sense of identity, pride, cohesion and good order in a school. It allows students to feel equal and enhances individual student safety and group security, as well as enhancing the profile and identity of the school and its students within the wider community. The School Council Policy of Albanvale PS states that uniform is compulsory for the students. It is important that parents are vigilant in ensuring students’ appearance reflects the expectations of the school community. We would appreciate your assistance in ensuring that a high standard of uniform is maintained. Please note: Socks must be worn with closed shoes. Jeans or leggings under dresses are not allowed nor are hooded jumpers. We appreciate your support in ensuring your child arrives to school ready to learn in their uniform each day.

Sun Smart Policy

In line with our Sun Smart Policy, all students are required to wear a wide-brimmed school hat to protect them from harmful UV rays this term; please ensure your child has their hat at school each day. Students who are not wearing their hat will not be able to play and will be asked to sit in the shaded area.

 Grade Placements

Teachers will begin the process of placing children in grades for 2023 later this term. This is a very long and thorough process with much consideration given to ensuring that each individual child’s needs are met. Students will have an opportunity to complete a friendship list and will be placed in a grade with at least one friend. The teacher will refer to this list, as well as their current knowledge of the child, before allocating your child to a class for next year. Our aim is to create an environment in each classroom that promotes optimal learning. Teachers spend considerable time and effort creating grades which cater for the educational, social and emotional needs of all children. Parents wishing to discuss any requests in regards to grade placement for your child based on social, emotional or academic needs, are requested to make an appointment to see me by Friday 29th October.

Beginning School Program – Preps 2023

The Beginning School Program for our 2023 preps will commence on Thursday 17th November at 2:15pm. The aim of the program is to introduce the students to school life so they are familiar with their environment in 2023 and are ready to learn from the onset. A letter outlining the program will be provided to all enrolled families. Should you know of any family or friends with children yet to be enrolled for the prep program, please encourage them to do so as soon as possible.

Families leaving Albanvale PS 2022

Please let the office staff, located in The Nexus Hub, know if your child is leaving the school at the end of this year so that we may begin the transition process for your child with their new school.
