Book Week

Theme: Reading is My Secret Power

Dates: 16 - 23 August 2019

The annual LNPS Book Week Parade will be held in the Gym on Monday 19th August from 9:00am. We encourage all students to dress up as their favourite book characters for the parade to celebrate stories and the joy of reading. We would love to see some creative costumes that are connected to books or the theme Reading is My Secret Power.

Dance Fit Program

As part of the PE curriculum, MISSFIT movement came to LNPS providing a fitness, wellbeing and movement program with a focus on dance and aerobics.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to expel energy, increase their levels of fitness and strength and build on more complex movements through dance. The instructors explicitly supported children to perform simple dance movement in sequences to modern music which children engaged in. They also explained the importance and benefits of cooling our body down after exercise.

During PE lessons, children are now busy creating their own dance movements to music and sharing their dance routines with their peers.

A great time was had by all!

Premier's Be Active Challenge

A friendly reminder that the PBAC finishes on 27th September 2019!

Physical activity can help with focus, improves behaviour and promote a positive attitude. Any type of physical activity is good, and 60 minutes a day is best. The challenge is to do at least 60 minutes of physical activity on at least 5 days of the week for at least 4 weeks. After 4 weeks of daily recorded physical activity you will be rewarded with a medal. Simply record your progress and return your registration form to the Front office.

LNPS Pre-loved Book Sale

During Book Week (19-23 August 2019) the Tirkandi library will be hosting a book stall for both students and families. The stall will be open during library opening hours, including some mornings and afternoons, as well as two lunchtimes. Any book donations leading up to this event would be greatly appreciated. Please see the attached poster for further details.

Swimming R-6

This year swimming lessons will occur throughout week 7 for Reception to Year 6 (Tuesday-Friday). As always it is an educational and exciting experience for our students. This year we will be heading to the  Adelaide Aquatic Centre, North Adelaide. Swimming lessons are a compulsory part of the Australian Curriculum with a focus on building confidence, water safety skills and stroke development. It is imperative that students attend and complete swimming lessons in preparation for aquatics in Year 7, and as a life long safety skill. A medical certificate must be produced and an exemption form completed if your child is unable to attend lessons

Parents are encouraged to take note of the following information:

  • Take note of bus departure times – late arrivals will require parent/caregiver to transport directly to the pool (picture).
  • Swimming/Aquatic Consent Form must be returned to the class teacher as soon as possible.  With Medical Plans if required
  • Payment must be made to the school by Wednesday 28th August.
