Introducing Mindfulness Mornings at St Agnes’

This term at St Agnes’ we are introducing Mindfulness at the start of our day as it encourages a calm, orderly learning environment and promotes focus. Once the bell rings at 8.45am and students enter the classroom they are invited to join their teacher and classmates in a circle on the floor and participate in mindfulness for 5 minutes.

By encouraging students to participate in Mindfulness at the start of the day we are hoping that it:

  • calms the mind and body
  • increases focus and attention
  • increases ability to learn
  • reduces reactive behaviours
  • develops self-awareness
  • lessens anxiety and stress
  • develops self-management of emotions
  • teaches life-long coping skill
