Introducing Mindfulness Mornings at St Agnes’
This term at St Agnes’ we are introducing Mindfulness at the start of our day as it encourages a calm, orderly learning environment and promotes focus. Once the bell rings at 8.45am and students enter the classroom they are invited to join their teacher and classmates in a circle on the floor and participate in mindfulness for 5 minutes.
By encouraging students to participate in Mindfulness at the start of the day we are hoping that it:
- calms the mind and body
- increases focus and attention
- increases ability to learn
- reduces reactive behaviours
- develops self-awareness
- lessens anxiety and stress
- develops self-management of emotions
- teaches life-long coping skill
